Easter Weekend
This Easter weekend has been very chill! I've been crafting the whole weekend and spending time with family and friends. I've also eaten a whole heap of chocolate, which I kind of regret, but not that much because it was yummy! I've finished my snood and I'm so glad. I've been working on it since the beginning of February. While I was in bed this morning I thought I'd try to make some flowers and hearts. I got a bit confused by the flowers because the book I have is written in UK terminology and I taught myself from US terminology so it was a bit confusing. Kind of got there in the end. Now I've decided to start a new project of making a granny square blanket! But I've run out of wool! I managed to make 3 small squares before I ran out of the green wool. So I've ordered more of that and some cream and navy for two more rounds. Then my blanket will be well on it's way. I get so excited awaiting packages of yarn!! While I wait for it, I'll do more of my cross stitching.

Every so now and then I put effort into my outfits and actually like them. This is one of those times.
Spiced Pumpkin with Coconut
Here's a recipe to spice up your pumpkin. It's very easy, very quick and very yummy!
Ingredients:
2 Medium Butternuts (a small pumpkin or some other squash will also work)
2 Onions
1 Tbsp Dessicated Coconut
2 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tbsp Methi Masala or Ground Chillies (if you use Chillies, maybe use a little bit less)
1 Tbsp Ground Coriander
1 Heaped tsp Salt
2 Tbsp Oil
1/2 Cup Water
1. Chop up Butternut into big pieces and the roughly chop the onion.
2. Fry the onions in the oil until it's light brown and glassy.
3. After the onions are done, add all the spices and the coconut. Let it cook through a little bit!
4. Add the butternut and mix it all up.
5. Place a lid on the pot and let the butternut cook in the spices until it's soft. Stir occasionally so that it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot!
All done! Enjoy!!

Things I Plan To Do
I Heart Pavlova
My mama loves to make pavlova and I love it! So yesterday she showed me how to make it, and I thought I'd show you. It's very easy, especially if you have egg white powder. Some might say it's cheating, but so is buying ready made meringue! It just makes it quicker if you use egg white powder so you have a dessert faster. That's my selling point.
Ok, so you will need:
10 Tablespoons Water
1 Heaped Tablespoon Egg White Powder
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 cup or 250ml Sugar (caster sugar is easier to blend, but you could use granulated if needs be)
To Decorate:
Fresh cream
Fruit of your choice
1. Put the egg white powder and the water into a bowl and beat with an electric whisk until the mixture is light and fluffy! Like in my picture!
2. Slowly add one cup of sugar while beating.
3. Beat the mixture until it starts to hold peaks. It looks all smooth and blended at this point. Add the Vanilla Extract
4. Spread the mixture over a baking tray that's covered with greaseproof paper. It's nice when you make it a little bit flatter, but it's really upto you how thick you want it to be. I'm not sure if it will bake all the way through if it's very thick.
6. Bake for 30 minutes at 150'C and then for 30 mins at 100'C.
7. When it's done baking it will be nice and hard and a light light browny colour. Let it cool all the way down.
8. Whip the cream and add a little bit of icing sugar and vanilla to sweeten. Then top with chopped or sliced or diced fruit!
9. Enjoy! :D

Knit one, then another one
A few years ago I taught myself how to knit, and then I got distracted by something else and didn't do it. I recently tried to get back into knitting because my friend Laura is amazing at it! She got me some knitting needles for Christmas so I thought I'd try again. I completely forgot how!! I used YouTube videos to teach me how to all over again! I think I have the hang of the knit stitch now, but I'll do some more practising because practice makes perfect!

I'm about to start this quite perfect cross stitch! I just need to get organised with it and then I'll be off! :D

Book Review: The Fault in our Stars, John Green
This entire post will be a spoiler alert so if you don't want to know, don't read it.
The thing about John Green is that he writes all these beautiful words and makes you fall in love and then he takes it away in the most beautiful way he can imagine and you're left there wondering what the hell happened and how you got so involved in something that you were just reading. Even though it's sad, it's still funny and there's a sense of normality to it. He adds humour to make it okay that something really bad has just happened.
The Fault in Our Stars is about a group of young adults who have different kinds of cancer and they go to a cancer support group. It's at this support group that a girl finds a boy and they fall in love. It's all very tragic because they know that their time might be up. So they make the best of what they've got. Then it's all about probabilities and time. And in a likelihood to survive in an 80-20, you'd think you were in the 80% side, then you're not. Then you realise that John Green's right, "Time is a slut, she screws everybody."
If you read this book, prepare for a rocky ride. Bring tissues. Don't fall in love with the characters.

The Big Write 2013
The Big Write is a Festival of Children's Literature, which is the best kind of literature out there. Children's stories make it okay dream big and to imagine different worlds. People who write childrens literature are the best kinds of people because they're still dreaming and using their imaginations. Something most of the population grow out of.
Today I was lucky enough to go to one of the events at Discover Story Centre. The day consisted of being read stories by Ed Vere (Mr Big, Bedtime for Monsters, The Getaway) and David Roberts (Dirty Bertie), drawing with Ed Vere and David Roberts and also having Martin Brown talk to us about drawing and illustrating for Horrible Histories.

The best part of the day was meeting Ed Vere and getting our books signed by him. I must admit, I was fangirling a bit! He even drew a little monster on the page!
Oh! I also remembered to take a photo of my outfit for today because it was another outfit I liked.

The Knitting And Stitching Show 2013
Every year we go to the Knitting and Stitching Show, formerly known as The Stitch and Craft Show. It's a wonderful time of creativity and craft supplies. Every year I'm astounded by things that people make. I always stock up on craft supplies that I need too, which is always nice!
I felt good today! I wore a black dress with black leggings and my cowboy boots, with a denim shirt over and my lovely floral scarf. I should have taken a picture of my whole outfit, but I didn't.
Here are Josie and Laura looking at the cross-stitch patterns. We ended up buying that sewing machine one there in the top corner so watch this space for updates of that!
Ribbons galore!! We really had to not buy more ribbon because we still have the ribbon from last year. Oh! and how cute are those ladybird and jammy dodger tape measures!?
This ring and this brooch were from the same amazing stall. They always have really lovely jewellery for not too much money. I love my brooch! Totally going to wear it all the time. That's Josie from Josie Makes modelling that lovely daisy ring.
It's a festival of quilts! I really need to get quilting because they're just so beautiful! Like look at how amazing those are. So much work goes into them too. It's on my lifetime to do list!
New bag times! Yay!! House of Alistair is my new favourite shop. Everything they had was pretty! I so didn't need a new mirror, but how could I resist. You can never have too many embroidery hoops! I like to leave my designs in them, so I always stock up at the show. Such gorgeous fabric from Alice Caroline who sells beautiful Liberty fabric. I got these 4, now I just need to find something to do with them!
